Collaboration in nature

Earth has sustained for more than 4.5 billion years, surely we can learn a thing or two about sustainability from nature. Inspired by Earth Day we look at examples of collaboration, and start with our own body.

We are a collection of 30-70 trillion cells; our body is an artwork of collaboration, a masterpiece of teamwork. The more we think about the human body, the more we are awed at the symphony with which all organs work. Imagine if all organs started competing with each other to get credit for each small task that was done. And when credit was not given, they sulked, whined, and worked at their minimal potential. Imagine your heartbeat sinking in the middle of a presentation to your boss, or your legs refusing to push the accelerator while you are running late for a meeting. Let us salute this masterpiece that works relentlessly to keep us going, and let us realize that the "Journey from Good to Great is a journey from Competition to Collaboration. "
